Worked at the coal mine in Tai Yuan, Shan Xi province, for eight years,creating
plenty of paintings that display the life of the labors who worked at

The work named You Do the Work, I Feel at Ease, was printed for tens of million
of copies and distributed nationwide as a popular art work.

appraiser for fine art by the Chinese Cultural Ministry.

giganic traditional Chinese painting Deer and Cypress in Spring for the newly-built
Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. Li created Deer with Green
Cypress on china, and produced the china in Jingde Town, the prestigous place for
china producing. Li also created the largest painting on ceramic tile (2.06 x 1.2 meter)
and the Picture of Arhats on a huge and thin porcelain bowl(96 cm diameters).

President Chirac of France wrote a letter of thanks in which he spoke highly of the

extraordinary talents".

He had spent two years on creating a large-size (65 miters in length and 2.8 miters
tall) traditional Chinese painting Spirit of the Mountains and Rivers. "Spirit of the
Mountains and Rivers --- Art Exhibit of Yansheng Li, celebrating the Return of
Hong Kong to the Motherland " was hold in the Chinese Revolutionary Museum.
One part of the paintings "A Hero's Death" attended the "Grand Art Exhibit to
Celebrate the Return of Hong Kong to the Motherland", sponsored by the
Chinese Cultural Ministry and rewarded a silver prize. At the same year, the reprint
edition of Spirit of the Mountains and Rivers in a reduced format was published
by the People's Fine Arts Publishing House. Spirit of the Mountains and Rivers
was praised as "the creation in historical?paintings and figure paintings that will be
handed down from generation to generation." The paintings were also prized during
the Seventh Plenary Session of China National Union of Arts and Literature. In the
same year, French President Jacques Chirac visited China and held a banquet in
honor of Yansheng Li and other Chinese artists. During the banquet, Yansheng Li
sketched a portrait given to the President. The next day, the People's Daily carried
this portrait and reported this news of friendship between China and France.
President Chirac extended the second note of thanks to Yansheng Li after receiving
the copy of his portrait. In the same year, Yansheng Li hold solo exhibit in New
York and met with Mr. Annan, the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Ambassador Qin Huasun, the Chinese permanent representative to the UN,
presented Yansheng Li's painting Deer and a boy?to Mr.Kofi Annan, who extended
later on a note of thanks to Li, praising the painting as "fantastic and artistic concept”.
In the same year, Yansheng Li started to plan the project of "Forests of Steles for
the Century-Spirit of the Mountains and Rivers".

Invited to create paintings as state gift from Vice President Hu Jintao to present to
state leaders of Japan and South Korea. Li successfully draw morn than one hundred
pictures on celadon. One of the pictures entitled the Bell of the Centural Peace is
2.1 miters tall and 0.7 miters in diameter. These pictures on celadon were praised by
specialists as" representative work of the century on celadon art." Li was also invited
to create paintings as state gift from Mr.Huang Ju, the member of the Standing
Committee of C.P.C Political Bureau?and also the Party Secretary of Shanghai, to
visit Singapore.

The paintings of Wreaths in the Battlefield?and Youth in the Gunfire were
selected to attend the National Fine Arts Exhibit to celebrate the 50th anniversary
of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Posters of the two paintings were
published nationwide by the New China Publishing House. The project department
of Beijing government approved the plan that chooses the site of the Changchunyuan
which was destroyed by fire by the United Army of Eight Imperial Countries as the
site of "Forest of Steles for the century-Spirit of the Mountains and Rivers".
Li's works Revival of Africa on celadon was presented as a state gift from Jiang
Zemin, the President of the People's Republic of China, to the President of South
Africa. In the same year, the General Office of the Ministry of Culture approved the
project of "Forest of Steles for the century-Spirit of the Mountains and Rivers."

Li received the special subsides which was only paid for the extraordinarily talented
artists, issued by the State Council. Li was also invited to create paintings as the state
gift from Mr. Zeng Qinghong, the Secretary of the C.P.C.Secratariat when he
visited Japan and South Korea. The painting Soul of the Nation was selected to
attend fine art exhibits on "Chinese Martyrs". Participating the activities of "famous
experts painting Qinghua" during which Li created Portrait of John Ma. His painting
Sun on the Mountains was selected to attend Exhibit of Traditional Chinese
Painting for Hundred Years. Once again, became a senior appraiser of fine art for
the Ministry of Culture. In the same year, Li visited Taiwan for a cultural exchanging
program organized by the Ministry of Culture.

Invited to create a long scroll of traditional Chinese painting "Ode to Our Youth---
Congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist
Youth League" (80x1.5 miters), the work took four months to finish. This scroll was
exhibited in the Chinese Revolutionary Museum.

the Forerunner of the Nursing Cause ---- Creating the Image of Mr.

To cherish the memory of the 100th anniversary of Mr. Deng Xiaoping's birthday, Li
spent four months on the creation of a large-size traditional Chinese painting The
East Wind brings Beautiful Spring Sights (6.66x2.1 miters) and Spring Scenery
Remain throughout the Year. In the same year, he became the deputy director of
the Art Committee of the Chinese Painting Research Institute. The painting
Boy of Lijiang River? was selected to attend the 10th National Art Exhibit.
